ABOUT
Ece Ünalp (pronounced "eh-jeh"), a Boston-based film and media composer — and a two-time award recipient recognized by the Saint-Saëns and Berlioz international music competitions — specializes in orchestral, electronic, and hybrid scores. Currently enrolled in the Film and Media Scoring program at Berklee College of Music, Ece blends classical training with contemporary techniques, drawing inspiration from diverse traditions — especially Turkish and Middle Eastern musical influences.
Experience spans film, live performance, and chamber music, with collaborations ranging from student films to orchestral and video-game scoring sessions. Contributions as composer and arranger include original works for the Berklee Women’s Film Initiative Composer Club and the Berklee Motion Picture Orchestra, each piece crafted to match the unique character of its ensemble. Emotionally compelling scores have been showcased at college events and professional industry presentations.
In addition to composing, Ece performs as pianist, cellist, vocalist, and percussionist, appearing with ensembles such as the Berklee Greek Ensemble and Berklee Symphonic Winds. Independent releases include Night Studies, a chamber-music collection, and The 1987 Case, a trilogy of electronic, synth-driven EPs.
Fluency in English, Turkish, and French informs a global perspective on musical storytelling. Driven by an innovative approach to orchestration and production, Ece continues to explore new soundscapes that elevate and enrich visual narratives.

ARTIST STATEMENT
Music is my language—an extension of my thoughts, emotions, and imagination. I compose to shape narratives, evoke feelings, and connect with people beyond words. My passion lies in music’s ability to transport listeners, whether through an orchestral score, a melody, or a blend of acoustic and electronic elements. Music is at the core of my life; it shapes how I perceive the world and express creativity. I want to create music that makes people feel something while watching a film—not just seeing the scenes but truly connecting with the story through sound. It’s the same feeling I had when I first scored a film and watched it come to life with my music. I see my work as a bridge between tradition and innovation. While deeply influenced by orchestral film composers of the past, I embrace modern soundscapes and evolving technologies in music production. In an era where genres constantly blend, I mix orchestral tradition with contemporary sounds to create expressive narratives.
As an artist, I aspire to contribute meaningfully to the field of music by crafting scores that resonate across generations. I aim to bring fresh perspectives to film and media scoring, combining my knowledge of Western orchestration with my understanding of Turkish and Middle Eastern musical traditions. My goal is to create music that not only enhances visual storytelling but also stands alone as a compelling and memorable experience.
My audience includes filmgoers, music enthusiasts, and dreamers who, like me, are captivated by the power of melody and harmony to tell stories. Whether writing for film, television, or interactive media, I hope my music fosters connection, sparks imagination, and leaves a lasting impact.
My name is Ece Ünalp. I am a composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist specializing in orchestral and hybrid music. I take inspiration from storytelling, using music to shape emotions and bring scenes to life.
